Communion and Guilt.

Before the Throne of God Above is a song my church often sings on nights we have communion, typically between the serving of the bread and the cup. While considering my downfalls, one of the stanzas caught my eye:

“When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me”

Satan has been tempting me to despair. I found the guilt within tonight. Finally.
How do you reconcile sinning with Christ wiping our slate clean? Why do we still sin?(the theological answer is obvious, but it doesn’t always feel that way)When we are guilty we should look to Christ and be thankful. What happens then? Are we supposed to feel better?

I don’t.
